Nicola's Top 7 Things Every Young Woman Should Know

Recently I went on Girls' Brigade camp for the third time and it has become a tradition for me to do a thought for the day. I am GB chaplain and so I am called to give spiritual guidance and this year I felt it should come in this form. I felt that God's heart for young women with mine thrown in was for them to know certain things. Facebook is full of lists of things from buzzfeed so I though I would follow suit and speak about things that formed a list. These young women are aware of the Christian ethos of the Girls' Brigade but may not identify as Christian so I thought I would have Biblical truth in the background but not necessarily upfront. So here there are I hope to elaborate more as I did on camp but for now here's the list

1. Be yourself 

2. Find your passion

3. Feminism isn't a dirty word

4. It's never your fault 

5. Keep things in perspective 

6. True beauty is internal

7. You are loved 

Celtic Prayer for the Rain

I am reading Cave, Refectory, Road by Ian Adams for discussion for my degree course and it reminded me that Ian Adams had us write Celtic inspired prayers or poems so here's mine inspired by scripture and a previous blog post! 

Get a clue
The sky is heavy
The clouds are filled with hope
Hear the testimony
As he thunders with his majestic voice
Can I get a witness
The rain is God’s kindness
Evidence of God’s goodness
The source of every plate and bellyful
Rain from heaven
Into open hearts
Onto dry and weary land
Fill us with gladness
Flood us with joy
Cause our feet to dance
Cause our mouths to sing
Don’t, sit, wait and hide
Jump in, splash around get soaked
Rain rain come to stay
Come again another day
